Treatment of Temporomandibuar Disorder
Many patients can suffer from Temporomandibular Disorder or TMD which is pain, discomfort, and sometimes popping and clicking of the temporomandibular joint or jaw joint. This disorder can cause a wide range of issues for patients from muscle tension, headaches, and limited or decreased opening. TMD is often caused by clenching, grinding, or occlusal (bite) disharmony.
Our office is dedicated to helping prevent TMD and also treat it. We use conservative and proven methods to treat TMD such as bitesplint therapy, occlusal adjustments, and physical therapy when needed. TMD can be debilitating for some patients and we are glad to be able to offer this treatment. Dr. Taylor has completed many hours of continuing education in this area, many of those hours being at The Pankey Institute.
